Our Office
Our office is located in the Federal Building at 450 Golden Gate Avenue (19th Floor) in the Civic Center area in San Francisco. Our office hours are 8:30 AM to 5 PM Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays (a list can be seen here). You must have a valid ID and pass through a metal detector and x-ray machine to enter the building. Clients without ID's can call the office and request an escort.
The Courthouse
Our courthouse is located at 450 Golden Gate Avenue. The Petty Offense calendar is on the 18th floor of the federal building. Magistrate Courts are on the 18th floor. District Courts are on the 17th, and 19th floors. The Clerk's Office is on the 16th floor. You must have a valid ID and pass through a metal detector and x-ray machine to enter the courthouse.
Public Transit Options
If you are taking BART or MUNI to the San Francisco Federal Building exit Civic Center Station, U.N. Plaza exit and walk up Hyde Street to Golden Gate. Turn left onto Golden Gate and walk two blocks to the Federal Building and Courthouse.
Parking
A paid parking lot is located on Turk Street, directly across from the courthouse entrance. More parking is located at the U.C. Hastings garage, at 376 Larkin, is a half-block away from the courthouse. There is also an underground lot at the Civic Center Plaza. Metered parking is located throughout the area. Parking is expensive and can be hard to find, so please plan accordingly.

Our Office

Our office hours are 8:30 AM to 5 PM Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays (a list can be seen here). Identification is needed to enter the offices of the Federal Defender in Oakland. You must have a valid ID and pass through a metal detector and x-ray machine to enter the building. Clients without ID's can call the office and request an escort.

Public Transit Options
If you are taking BART to the Oakland Federal Building, exit City Center and walk towards Clay Street. When exiting the BART station you should walk through a center of restaurants straight into the federal building.
Parking
There is a parking garage directly across the street from the back side of the federal courthouse, on Jefferson Street. There are also metered parking spots located near and around the federal courthouse.
